St. John Catholic School recently added new food bars to their cafeteria through a LiveWell Community Wellness Grant from the Douglas County Community Foundation.
The new food bars allow cold food to be kept cool and hot food to be kept warm, in addition to having sneeze guards to protect food.
“We purchased food bars that were low enough to the ground so that our little kindergartners and first-graders could reach the food,” Principal Pat Newton said. “With the grant, we were able to purchase enough food bars to properly serve all of the lunch options.”
Newton said the kids love the new food bars.
“They say the food looks much more exciting in the food bars, and the kids feel they are being treated more like adults,” she said. “They’ve described them as awesome and very cool.”
