Year Established

Douglas County Community Foundation convened a steering committee, which would become LiveWell Douglas County, to leverage and coordinate community-based efforts to encourage healthy lifestyles.

Grant Dollars Provided to Douglas County

LiveWell Douglas County worked with partners across the county to improve health
through policy, systems, and environmental changes. Thanks to the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Pathways Initiative, partnering organizations received implementation grants.

Organizations Represented

The achievements of LiveWell Douglas County are a result of the strong commitment and dedication of our community organizations, school districts, local government and volunteers.

The students have sure loved having the bikes as part of our physical education program.”

— Crystal Engemann, Physical Education and Health Instructor, Baldwin City Junior High School

“Thanks for making the city more bike and pedestrian friendly. Safe places to walk and ride a bike are essential to reducing the risk of chronic diseases. It’s not okay that our children are getting adult diseases.”

— Resident of Douglas County

We had a room full of people because we work closely with community stakeholders to improve health outcomes.”

— Aftan Jameson, 2022-23 Chair, LiveWell Douglas County
